More about the Police Training

Interesting! Personal report

by Teddy Chadwick

Jerusalem:

Note: This is an addendum to another article.

Here's an interesting thing about the police duty: When I took the weapons training, they took me by van with a bunch of guys to a big empty lot outside the city. There at a bulldozed swath cut out of the base of a large, steep hill, they had set up a firing range. So then they started doing the rifle training - only in the Hebrew language! So I had to mentally scramble to try to understand. Since I'd never fired a rifle before, I really prayed that the LORD would give me understanding. When my turn came up, I and 5 other classmates approached the M1 rifles lined up on the ground and followed consecutive instructions to pick them up, place the cartridge, yank the pull-thingy back, and aim at the target. I was a bit surprised that the targets didn't make any motion at all, that I could see at least, during the firing. So I had no idea if any of us were even hitting the cardboard.

After we all finished firing our 10 shots, we all put the M1's down and hiked down the way to take a look at the targets. I was amazed - there were a bunch of holes all within the circle area - I counted 10! 7 of them were all in the bull's eye, the other 3 were scattered but within the circle.

I quickly walked down the line of targets to check, and whoa! My score was the best. When my police commanders arrived to inspect my target and record the score on their clipboard, the head commander said,
"Yoffi! Metzuyan, Teddy! Mah ze shem mizpochah shelchah?" (Beautiful! Excellent! What is your family name?) and gave me a warm handshake and pat on the back.

"Toda!" (Thanks!) I said. "Shem mizpochah sheli Chadwick" (My family name is Chadwick). I had the best score of the class of 15.

I give the complete credit to the LORD who gave me the power and ability in the precise moment that I needed it to fire that rifle accurately and receive the favor and blessing of the police commanders. I was immediately reminded by the LORD that in the same way, He will help direct my prayers - so that I may pray accurately, hitting the "target" every time as I am led by the Holy Spirit, as I abide in Him. I was also reminded that in the Greek, sin or "hamartia," a term from archery, means to "miss the mark."

Blue Letter Bible. "Dictionary and Word Search for 'hamartia (Strong's 266).'" Blue Letter Bible. 1996-2002. 13 Sep 2006.

So, let's all press on toward the prize, hitting the mark for His glory.

Thanks for all your help. Whatever you do to contribute is a Blessing for Israel.

Hallelujah!
