Prayers Answered: Gay Pride parade cancelled for the 3d time
Moved to a Hebrew University stadium just before Sodom and Gomorrah passage is read in Synagogues

Jerusalem:
As I wrote previously, I and other believers in Jerusalem joined in prayer asking the LORD to stop the Gay Pride march. I addressed an explanatory letter to the Jerusalem Post. Details here.
In the end, the parade was cancelled, removing the need for extreme measures from the LORD such as hailstones. Perhaps more specifically, the parade was kept off the streets and confined to a Hebrew University stadium. The authorities apparently decided that the security risk was too high, following an errant missile last week which has raised the threat level against Israel nationwide. Thousands of extra police and border guards have been mobilized to counter the threats.
The smell of smoke floated thru Jerusalem for over a week as the religious Right Jews held riots to protest the gay march. Several Jewish religious members of Knesset recieved threats from members of the gay community, saying that if there is violence against gay marchers, they will rape 10 religious Jewish girls for every incident.
The last time gays marched in Jerusalem, 3 were stabbed and injured by a Haredi (Ultra-Religious) Jewish man who is now serving 12 years in prison. He was charged with 3 counts of attempted murder.
Top rabbinical leaders brough 4 petitions to court to protest the gay event. "Chief Rabbi of Rehovot, Rabbi Simha Kook, appealed to the court to prevent the march... Kook began to cry as he recited the verse, 'If I forget thee oh Jerusalem, let my right hand lose its cunning...What kind of Torah is emanating from Jerusalem! A Torah of filth.'" (Jerusalem Post)
Where was the Christian voice? Michael Evans raised 55,000 signatures in a petition against the parade, but it seems to have been ignored by Olmert. This is why I and other Christian friends prayed for hail to fall in the event the parade went on as planned.
Christians, Jews, and Muslims each have well-founded reasons to oppose such a parade through the streets. Here's a photo from a previous gay parade: CAUTION: this picture contains semi-nudity and vulgar writing, and reveals the true intent of the parade: Violate Israel with sin.
Personally, I'm not happy that the event was held in ANY part of Jerusalem, but I am happy that there was no parade thru Jerusalem's streets. I consider it an answer to prayer that the parade was cancelled.
Interestingly, this weekend marks the Shabbat that the "Sodom & Gomorrah" story found in the Genesis 18-22 portion of the Torah is read in synagogues around the world, in accordance with the worldwide Jewish schedule of Bible-reading. This weekend also immediately follows the anniversary of Kristallnacht, the terrible 1938 massacre of Jews by German civilians.
Let's join in prayer that the LORD will continue to block acts of "sinful terrorism" such as this attempted parade infection against Jerusalem, as well as acts of military terrorism which are planned against Israel every day.
"If I forget thee oh Jerusalem, let my right hand lose its cunning..."
Psa 137:5
